ok, this is really weird, I have a 3 Mobile HSDPA modem, it was working fine at first, then started prompting me for a password, I tried many things, until I tried "heavy" I couldn't believe when it works, because 3 told me that there was no password on the modem, but I'm using it right now.....

I connected to Safaricom Kenya, which is just vodafone with a local name. But you can't tell when it will connect and when it will not. At times it's asking for a password, instead of PIN number. On my eee pc with Ubuntu netboook remix, using this Huawei modem is not a good idea.

Hello, Iv followed the steps in your guide and everything is successful untill i try to connect to the modem. It just keeps trying to connect and the says "disconnected". Occasionally it will also ask me for a password but i have no idea what the password is. iv asked o2 (which is the network of my modem) and they said there is no password for the modem.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated as iv been at this for weeks.

Thanks

Hello,
I installed ubuntu unr on a 1008ha, neither the wifi or ethernet connection functioned. I was able to make a 3G modem connection, I am on the Bell network in Cnada, which is not in option in the menu (only Rogers and Fido appear as options in Canada). I chose Verizon of the USA to connect my 3G modem. I imagine that the Verizon and Bell configuration files are identical, and that in fact I was on the Bell network. Any opinions? Am I right?

Jacques

PS the updates did not get the wifi and ethernet connections to work.

I've had my share of problems with Asus EEE 901go.
Integrated 3G/UMTS modem is Huawei E620.
First it worked for a while but in two weeks it became grumpy and only connected sometimes. Now it doesn't connect at all, I just get a load of crap in daemon.log and nm-applet tells me it's still disconnected.
Wvdial doesn't work either btw.
