Khaled Matar (or Mattar) - The reason not to tune to Nile FM

Posted on | July 7, 2008 |

Do you listen to 104.2 - Cairo’s Nile FM?
Not in Cairo? Ever tried to listen to it via satellite, or even via the internet at www.nilefmonline.com?

Ladies and Gents,
Nile FM is proud to announce that they are now on a Kamikaze mission. Yes sir. They have hired the “most” annoying voice in Cairo. The one and only Mr. Khaled Matar.

I first heard Khalad Matar in the “So you think you can Nile” show, when he was up against Yara Gendy. From that moment, he was awful and thank goodness that Yara won the competition.
But for some reason, some of the RJs had to go on vacation, and Nile FM could not find anybody more annoying than Mr. Matar to come and take their places.

He started off with the Nile on Demand, which was a show that I never liked, but could tune to and just listen to it on my long drives from one meeting to the other, but now it’s a disaster on Air. It also seems that he will be replacing Zach from the evening session. So now you get 2 for the price of one.

1. You get your half day ruined for a full 3 hours with the Nile on Demand
2. It’s not enough that we had to puke half way after lunch, now you should also get nightmares if you tune to Nile FM for the evening session.

So what’s so annoying about Mr. Matar.
1. He has a freaking fake accent, that even Abdo the door keeper could spot it out.
2. The “Yaaaaay” he says during each and every request or some stupid SMS he reads is so Gay!
3. The dude is a Britney Spears fan.
4. Insider information from nile FM. He has a BeyoncĂ© ring tone on his phone - that’s just sweet.
5. Why the f*** should he mention his freaking annoying name a zillion times in an ad.

Let’s take today for example, he was asking the “Capital Question” of What the f*** you did for the weekend? - Now how lame is that? But it just gets lamer.
Another loser SMSed that He/She will go to Paris tonight. Mr. Matar went with his “Yaaaaaaay” again and added.

Paris is a beautiful country

A beautiful country. I think we should not really judge him that bad, and be thankful that he did not think that she will be going to Paris Hilton.

Nile on Demand is sponsored by Beano’s cafĂ©, where daily they give out a prize of Coffee for 2 for 3 people (I’ll leave you to do the math).

Mr. Matar got so popular now as well that he has even got his own Facebook fan Group, where you can check it here.

I sincerely hope that the Nile FM management gets back to their senses and find a solution fast. Listening to Khaled Matar is an experience that might lead to car accidents, seizures, nervous breakdowns, gastronomic disrturbances (although farts and burps sound better), nightmares and the list goes on.

It took some time to hear less of Alisson Esprit, but with Khaled Matar on Air, I praise the days when Alisson was around!

Look, I’ not going to insult you or say that this is sad or tell you to get a life. If I’m listening to nile fm it means my ipod broke, but the fact that you’re wasting bandwidth with this hate speech is probably the biggest clue that there is a void in your life that is supposed to be filled by a woman (or man, judging by how a man sounding gay is such a threat to you).

The reason I’m not going to insult you, is that I believe that if I did all I would get is further hate speech like “Lol no you’re the fag, asshole you probably (insert comeback of a bruised ego)”.

I am in no position to judge you, and if you find Khaled Matar annoying then so be it. However, due to your bitterness I will assume that “Abdo” is actually you.

I personally have nothing against you nor your opinions, I’m only saying this because on some deep level I really hope you actually stop and take a look at yourself, because from looking at this I can tell you’re a very sad, strange man that has something missing in his life.

Khaled Matar, while annoying to you probably enjoys more fame and appreciation than you would probably get from a loved one. I mean I honestly can’t conceive of a grown man who gets so caught up in a radio show that he “pukes” and gets his “day ruined” and can turn around and have a stable mindset or have any stable person love them for who they are (unless you put on a front).

This blog is so intellectually void, that if you spent half your time off of it and actually developed yourself, you would come off as less of a douche.

I doubt you’re any older than 20, probably in your late teens. If I’m right then you should really start looking at your maturity peak. If you are in fact older then God help you.

I doubt you’ve listened to a word I’ve said. If you feel angry at what I said then it just means that you’ve proved my point. That the author of this blog is as immature as I picture him in my head. If this doesn’t sting you, it really should because if I can tell all this from merely reading 2 pages of your blog, then I can’t help but imagine what other people think. I wont be checking this blog again because I really don’t care for you or your opinions. In fact, I hope no one has the misfortune of ever hearing them.

There’s this thing on you’ll find on your radio that could help with your problem:

Basically it’s called a knob. You turn it and it actually changes the channel. Try it, and you can post it on your blog.

“From that moment, he was awful and thank goodness that Yara won the competition”.

Btw they all won the competition..it was Khaled and Yara, and Dina and Assem..dont know what happened to the other 2…

Anonymous (Too bad you didn’t leave a name),
Sorry for replying back to you late - not that you care in the first place, but I have been busy doing completely useless stuff in my empty life!

I have all the right to state my sincere opinion about someone or something without taking anybody’s permission to do so. As for this post, I am sure that you are aware that I am not the only person who finds Khaled Matar to be an annoying RJ, with a fake accent and no talent whatsoever in what he is doing. The guy might be talented in something else, but being RJ is surely not his thing.

Yes he might be enjoying fame by many, but appreciation I doubt. I did not write this post just for the sake of attacking Khaled because of my personal opinion about him, on the contrary, I have asked others’ opinion, and most of them were with the same belief that he is totally faking it, and the way he is presenting the shows is simply annoying.

Your finding of this blog to be intellectually void, and that you’ll never be checking it again, is purely your business, whereas merely making assumptions about me and my life is not.

I personally have no beef with you. I appreciate your mature approach in responding to my initial post. I believe that maybe I was wrong about you in that department. So I hope you continue to understand that I do not wish to attack you any further if the case still stands. In fact, there’s a good chance I would like you as a person if I ever met you.

    However,

I must still point out a few things. Yes, what you have there is an opinion, but what you are doing is transgressing “having your own opinion”.

In fact, I believe you said it best when you pointed out that it was wrong of me to make these assumptions. In fact, you know what, you were dead on, what I did there was assume things about you that I had no business assuming. In my opinion arguing that something is wrong because it simply sounds gay, or kicking a man down because you object to his Beyonce ringtone is somewhat intellectually void. That is my opinion and applying it to you is nothing more than a deduction. I judged and I was wrong to do so, whether or not it is actually true.

However, I’m glad you pointed that out. You were quick to point out that while it’s okay to have my own negative opinions of you, I shouldn’t make assumptions about you.

Well then tell me how different that is from what you’re doing to Khaled Matar ? What proof do you have that he has a fake British accent ? Your friend’s opinions ?

If your opinion was merely that he’s “annoying”, then you could’ve handled your argument and phrasing much better. There’s a fine line between criticizing and merely bashing. Picture someone else besides Khaled Matar being the subject of this paragraph. I believe it is the veil of fame that is the source of you demonizing him.

Another assumption you made about me is that I think you have no life. I clearly stated, that that was not my argument. If you have no life, then I have no life for replying to your blog.

Again I emphasize, that you are not just stating an opinion, you are outright assuming things about a man you have never met and bashing him publically. Out of your four points, I see nothing constructive. I truly respect your opinion, and I believe Khaled as a mature adult would probably do so too. It is no ones business to get offended at mere criticisms and opinions.

I don’t really see a reason to leaving a name because I don’t see what impact putting a moniker I could just fake would be.

If anything here seemed to stem from anger or seemed like a shallow attack, then please excuse it. I would choose a discussion over a meaningless argument any day.

    Thank You.

1 - Khaled Matar is the boriest to death RJ,
    with zero creativity/charisma(dot)

2 - The genres of Media Criticism differ; some critics would go for the ‘caricaturistic’ style(exagerations’ use) and cant prove them wrong at all.
See how critics judge Obama these days for instance!

3 - For all Pro or Anti-Khaled Matar, why dont you just join the “Official Petition To Get Khaled Matar OFF 104.2 NILE FM A.S.A.P” and talk all you want??

4 - Jean Pierre Avakian, i admire your style of writing a lot, surprised how come you didnt get into the journalism??!

guys, i can’t beleive this, i really can’t stop laughing . I just googled Khalid Matars name (because we went to the same secondary school) and found this page. i can’t beleive he is on the radio and people find him annoying like we did back in school. i know its him for sure because i’ve seen his picture. Man this is incredible, he was the most annoying guy back at brondesbury college for boys, and for that he was bullied constantly. i feel sort of sorry for him, but he was one messed up guy. i heard he’s become gay now, i don’t know if thats true. can anybody confirm it. the reason i ask is becasue brondesbury college was an islamic secondary school in london, and one of the main things he was bullied for was acting a bit gay, which he constantly denied, (nobody really thought he was gay, we were just taking the piss). i just want to know if he was gay after all, or maybe the bullying turned him gay, i really don’t know. the main thing i can’t believe is how even after all these years people find him annoying. i suppose i should have guessed he was going to get some sort of media job, i remember his mum worked for some arab channel or something. i’d like to know where i can hear his radio show, that should also be good for a laugh. by the way his english accent is NOT fake, he spent probably the first 16 years of his life in england.

i just want to add one more thing, i really do feel sorry for him,he has had it tough and i think mocking his radio show is not right. guys, you should leave him alone. i was one of the guys who used to take the piss out of him in secondary school and i really feel bad for it. he was quite an intelligent, kind considerate guy and did not deserve it. i hope doing this radio show has finally made him happy (unfortunetly to the detriment of the people of Cairo), however i guess thats just the way the universe balances itself out.

To Khalid Matar, good life and stay straight (if you aren’t already)

    I doubt he is Gay.
He is a muslim for God’s sake.
Maybe he got bullied because he was quiet, or nerdy or something.
But I strongly doubt that he is gay.
and I have my reasons…trust me.

@w/e I believe you are commenting to Mohammed.
Anyways, not that I’m doubting or caring if the dude is straight or gay (I just said “the Yaaaay sounds gay” - doesn’t necessarily mean he is so), but can you share the reasons of your strong doubt on him being gay?

i doubt he is gay. the source i heard it from was another guy back from the same secondary school we all went to, and now that i think about it he was known as being a liar. the fact remains though khalid matar is one very annoying individual, i’ve never heard his radio show but can only imagine what the people of cairo have to go through.
