Say No To Al Ahram…

by JPierre on August 11, 2006

… for breaching freedom of speech… Breaching the freedom and rights of Egyptian journalists…

Al Ahram, Egypt's leading state owned press, has started to practice internet censorship blocking all blogger.com blogs (thus, 85% of Egyptian blogs) from it's journalists.

I think that a normal reader will not get how a newspaper can block the blogs. Actually, Al Ahram has their own internet service provider and that’s where they block it.

Tarek,

This is a possibility. A normal user will not neet to dial through Al Ahram's number, bypassing the block thing.

Also, Al Ahram could also block blogs at an organizational level (i.e. for it's journalists).
