Blogging from Ubuntu (Using Drivel)
Posted on | July 19, 2006 |
I got my hands on Oreilly's Unbuntu Hack Tips, where hack no. 27 was something I thought was worth for a quick try. Hack 27, was blogging from Ubuntu. They mentioned that you could use Drivel, which could be installed by the apt-get command. To install it, you need to have the universal repository enabled (if you need help in this leave a comment and I'll get back to you). In the terminal run the following command to install;
sudo apt-get install drivel
and that's it. Setting up might be a little tricky and it totally depends on the blogging platform you are using. However for Drupal, fill in the username and password, select the type to be MovableType and the address to be http://yourdomain/xmlrpc.php (should work in 99% of the cases). Enjoy, and happy blogging.

Hello JPierre,
I blog a lot after I started using Drivel. However, I have a problem with the software. How do I specify a heading/title to my post? I don’t see any options to do this. I use Blogger account. You have any comments? Thanks.
Ramesh.

Hello Ramesh,
As I don’t use Blogger for almost a year now, I can’t really say how it’s done.
Sorry mate, but I might give it a try in the near future (when I get some time).
