Baga7a Masreya (An encounter with a telemarketer)
Posted on | January 15, 2006 |
Today I was having lunch at my grandparent’s when the phone rang. For the record I never answer my grandpartent’s phone, but this time my grandmother asked me to, as she was busy with the cooking and all. Anyways, I answered and this lady (sounder low class) was on the line. The conversation went as follows;
Lady: “Alo”
Me: “Yes?”
Lady: “This is the XXXX touristic company, is this an office or a residence phone number?”
Me: “Who do you want?”
Lady: “I want no one, I am asking you a question so please answer it”
Me: “Go f*** yourself” [Rou7i shoufi 7ad yenikik] [In arabic it's said like "Go find someone to f*** you"]
And I hang up on her.
Seconds later, the phone rang again, and I thought that she must be insane to do the same mistake twice so I answered again and;
Me: “Na3am” [Yes, What?]
Lady: “Don’t you know that it’s impolite to hang up on someone while they are talking to you?”
Me: “Is that what you found impolite?”

Well, if you heard the way she was talking it was as if she owned the phone line.
Eeerrr… God that felt good.
And the funniest part was that she didn’t really care what I said, she was commenting on me hanging up on her. Looks like that she is really looking :P Excuse my rudeness :D

forsooth, how can you say it’s the rudest? were you never a woman in egypt? that was like…above average rude.
JP, yeah that was rude man. but i imagine the sheteema might not have bothered the lady so much because it’s one of her occupational hazards…getting sworn at on the phone, and i’m sure she’s heard similar things just waiting for the metro or walking down the street. i would think she’s more bothered by your hanging up on her because that would keep her from getting her job done.

What can I say. I hate spam, and this is a sort of spam to me, except that you have to hear what she’s saying, not to mention the incredible 340 words a minute speed at which she is blabbing.
