This is just my personal view on the current very interesting situation regarding the IM’s and VoIP providers, specially after the launch of Google Talk.
When it comes to IM, I hate to say it, but I use MSN as for the popularity and that most of my contacts could be found there. VoIP, Skype will be the premium choice for me as it is reliable, and the voice quality is crisp perfect.
Google talk, currently only offering it’s services to GMail subscribers, has a quite limited amount of users. You can only voice chat with people who are available online and are using Google talk, and unfortunatelly you can not make land line calls such as in skype out.
From the looks of it, Google will make anyone in the world be able to use Google talk (not only Gmailers). They might also make the possibility to be able to place outside calls.
Thinking of the outside calls (land line or mobile calls), and having the googlish way of thinking, this is the what I think Google will do:
– Free credit on the go (the same way they are increasing the Gmail Quotas)
– Get credit by click AdSense ads.
– Even, they could be selling their credits cheaper than anyone
– Those views are if they don’t as well provide this service for free or for a fixed charge
I mean Google has this really funny way of thinking in launching and doing stuff. I believe we should just sit back and wait to see what will happen. Those were just my visions.
