Car Servicing Adventures in Egypt
Posted on | August 3, 2005 |
Having a VW, you should at least think or feel like you deserve to get a proper service treatment in Egypt. That wasn’t really the case. I went to the service center yesterday, and the friendly and very nice people over there managed to totally kill my day. It took them 6 f***ing hours to change oil, an oil filter, 2 wipers, reput a clip, change the brakes, dirty the ceiling (with their very clean hands), break my rear light and get me a new antenna to replace the stolen one.
I was there 9 o’clock in the morning, and I just though in worst cases I should be out of that shit dumb by 12, and be on time for my meeting 60 km away which was scheduled at 1430. Well, when the very slow passing time finally reached 1145, I thought let me go and see what’s going on. To my amazment, a talented bastard with the name of Mohamed Hussein (if you have a VW, avoid this bastard when servicing) told me that the car had just entered the garage… What happened next will never be appropriate to be written here… Anyhow, he managed to kill my day, screw the appointment, get punched and I bet he will be fired as well soon (so forget about my previous warning for avoiding him as he might not be there next time you go).
Unfortunatelly, I am addicted to the VW, and I think I will never change to another car maker that easily (nevertheless the engine sound is high compared to Audi’s and Beemers, but who gives a f***). VW rules.

Hello Jpierre,
Just saw your post and was actually surprised that you are that upset. I own a BMW in the United States and I do wait the whole day not just 6 hours to get the same job done.
I’m not sure what is the expectations in Egypt but the service center is usually very busy. I think they should have given you a loaner or made sure you understand it takes that long so you won’t make plans.
Easty does it :)
Good Luck

I have a VW too and I HATE the VW dealer and how its at the end of the world and I wait for LONG HOURS to do the silliest things. I’m thrilled you punched the guy, I wish I was there! I’m going soon for my servicing and will ask about the guy.

Thanks to the three of you for your comments:
- twosret: Thanks for stopping by. Well, having a loaner in Egypt isn’t that simple, but I do know for a fact that Volvo grants you a car with a Chaufer so that you meet your appointments and then take you back to their service center when you’re finished. But who wants to be driving the fasted tractor in the world. Regarding time, and that I should have been warned, time is something that has no value to most Egyptian.
*~$&!~*: Well, if you will ever buy a car, get a VW. You always feel happy when you just look at it.
VW owner: Good luck commerade. Do not, and I repeat do not go to Mohamed Hussein, unless you really want to have you day done by some bastard.
